Why might someone reject a SuperHero who can fly, for one with no super powers?
Forgiveness seems to be a thing most would like to be offered, but not so many want to give. Revenge seems to be a thing many want to take, but few agree should be extracted from them.
Forgiveness is marrying your childhood sweetheart, raising two point four kids then being buried in the same tomb. Revenge is a one night stand, then taking a morning after pill and dancing on the other person’s grave.
Forgiveness is cute and cuddly, politically correct and gives you unlimited access to innumerable virgins in the ever-after. Revenge is dark and nasty, likely to say what it thinks and entitles you to share in a single slut for the first week and a half.
Forgiveness is invincible – Revenge is vulnerable. Forgiveness is a cupcake – Revenge a red hot chili. Forgiveness kisses you goodnight – Revenge just goes to bed.
If you Forgive then you can chose whether or not you also Forget – If you take Revenge you’d better not Forget in case it wants to come back. Clergymen only ever preach about Forgiveness – You surely know who’s whispering in your ear about Revenge.
If Forgiveness was an animal it would be a dog, faithful and loyal it would stay by your side even after you’d died. If Revenge was an animal it would be a cat, only ever around when it wants feeding and prepared to take out your eyes with a scratch.
Forgiveness can’t be taken – Revenge can’t be given. Forgiveness is warm – Revenge is cold. Forgiveness is for all of humanity – Revenge against just a few.
If Forgiveness was a cowboy it would wear a white hat. Revenge is a cowboy and it dresses all in black.
Forgiveness is visible, it walks tall and proud. Revenge stalks the shadows and it wears a mask.
Maybe some don’t want their heroes brightly coloured, they want them dressed in grey and black?
